BOTOX® is one of the most exciting advances for treatment of wrinkles, lines, and the aging face.1 BOTOX® is a highly purified, naturally occurring protein which has the ability to very precisely relax the muscles to which it is applied.*

This relaxation lasts for a number of months, and then the treated muscles gradually return to their original condition.1*

This is done in a way that does not alter your natural expression and features.* It takes just a few minutes and can last between 4-6 months. Botox can also be an effective adjunct in the treatment of TMJ disorders2 and of excessive sweating (hyperhydrosis).3*

Who should get BOTOX® Cosmetic

Whether you are trying to get rid of wrinkles or just want to prevent them, BOTOX® Cosmetic can work for you at any age. Beyond wrinkles, BOTOX® Cosmetic can lift the eyebrows and keep you from looking “sad” or “tired”.4 And it’s not just for women! A man who has pronounced lines between his brows may be perceived as angry or stressed, even though he may not want to look that way.

Who should not get BOTOX® Cosmetic?

Patients with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome should not receive BOTOX® Cosmetic. Inform your practitioner if you have had a history of Bell’s palsy, Polio infection, or are currently taking aminoglycoside therapy.

How long does BOTOX® Cosmetic last?

On average, people need a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment 3 to 4 times a year to maintain their results.1

What should I do to prepare for my BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment?

Avoid ibuprofen (such as Motrin and Advil) for 3 to 4 days prior to your treatment. Aspirin should not be taken for 7 days prior, unless it is being used for a medical condition. Alcohol should not be consumed for 24 hours prior to the treatment. These will all increase your risk of minor bruising in the treated area.

What do I do after a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment?

Do contract the treated muscle every few minutes for the first hour after your treatment. Do not exercise vigorously or lie down for a minimum of four hours. Also, do not massage or compress the treated area for a minimum or 4 hours afterward.

How does Genesis charge for Botox?

Genesis MedSpa charges per unit of Botox injected. Some providers charge per area, but Genesis feels that charging per unit is more fair to our clients and, usually, results in a lower cost for our clients. Genesis providers will explain this in more detail to you during your consultation and will be able to tell you exactly how many units they plan to inject, and therefore, how much it will cost prior to your treatment.
