Radiesse Treatments in Colorado Springs, CO

Radiesse

Radiesse is a calcium-based filler that FDA-approved for correction of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. It is excellent for correcting wrinkles and volume loss in many other areas of the face, including the hollows under the eyes, the frown lines, and the areas around the cheekbones.

How does Radiesse work?

Radiesse stimulates your body to produce collagen, unlike other fillers. The initial filling effect is due to the gel carrier and, then, after about 6-8 weeks the calcium has stimulated the dermal layer of your skin to produce collagen, filling in the original wrinkles or areas of volume defect.

How long does it last?

Studies have shown that Radiesse lasts up to one year and, in some cases, even up to 15 months.

When will I see results?

Most of the results will be seen immediately, with final results visible within 72 hours.

Does it hurt?

Local anesthetic and/or dental blocks will be used before the injection of the Radiesse in order to make the procedure as pain-free as possible. These options will be discussed with you at your initial appointment.

What are the side effects?

Just as with any injection, you may experience swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising. Some patients experience a decrease in the filling effect at about 8 weeks as the gel carrier subsides and before their own collagen appears. There is a small incidence of "lumps" occurring after the Radiesse injection. These can usually be treated and made to go away.

What should I do before my Radiesse treatment?

We recommend not taking anti-inflammatories (Motrin, Aleve, Advil, ibuprofen) for about 4 days before your Radiesse injection. Discontinue aspirin (unless it has been recommended by your physician for at least a week before your treatment. In addition, if you bruise easily, we suggest that you use our Neocutis Prevedem twice a day for two weeks prior to your treatment. Prevedem strengthens blood vessels and can decrease the incidence and severity of bruising.

What do I do after my treatment?

You will be given instructions after your Radiesse treatment. Basically, you may return to normal activities immediately. We suggest no heavy massage to your face for about 4-6 hours and you may want to apply ice to the injected area several times a day for the first 72 hours in order to minimize the chance of bruising.
